The Scandinavian Children’s Mission manages an extensive work at the Philippines. With close to 25 –years in the country the work is very well established.
Our work efforts range over several fields in which help is needed, from emergency efforts in situations of disasters to continuous work over longer periods.
Our operation includes managing preschools, vocational schools, a clinic for malnourished, ambulating dentist care, food drives, education and the spreading of information about among other things HIV/Aids, abuse in the home and incest.
The Philippines struggle with a constant high rate of unemployment. Due to lack of income many children are forced to leave school and find work to contribute to the family’s breadwinning. It is not rare that these children end up in prostitution.
With the ambition to decrease distress and poverty the Scandinavian Children’s Mission runs projects with the intent to create an awareness about improvements that can be achieved with your own resources and through saving and micro loans. In the long run this should lead to new employment opportunities. We believe that the road away from poverty is called education.
